Retired Gold City bass vocalist Tim Riley was taken to hospital after suffering a stroke earlier this week. An email to Texas Gospel Canada from Daywind Records says Tim has since suffered an additional stroke and has been moved to the ICU. The strokes have affected Tim’s speech and make it difficult for him to communicate.
“We appreciate every prayer that is being sent up on Dad’s behalf,” said Tim’s son and Gold City leader Danny Riley.
Tim sang Bass for Gold City from 1982 until he retired in 2005. The group posted news of Tim’s condition on Facebook:
Love that man for over 55 years. Husband was a bass, also and “battle of the basses” many nights in our home. Yes, please lift T.G. In prayer. His life was truly a blessing to us.

I am deeply affected by this sad news. He went to war, served his country, and brought honor to God, himself, and his country throughout his life. Vietnam vets are getting old and dying now. I am no exception as Agent Orange is killing me. I never got to meet him but I look forward to seeing him in Heaven. Maybe he’ll teach me to sing!
