Congratulations are in order for Chris Taylor of the Taylors. He and his wife are expecting the arrival of their son, soon….VERY SOON!
The Taylors are made up of Jonathan, Suzanne, and Chris. The North Carolina trio has been together as a group for 12 years.
The Taylors’ current single is Love Still Flows and is #39 on the Singing News Top 80, up from #60 last month.

From the resources at the SGMA Research Library, we have a look at the Singing News chart from this month, January, 1983….37 years ago!
We always think of the #1 song, but what was the #2 song that month? Well, from the vinyl collection at the SGMA Research Library, we bring you the song that was number 2 that month…and the month before that. It was the Insprirations with “Thery’re Holding Up The Ladder!” The song comes from the Canaan Records LP, “Someday.”
The Inspirations is based in Bryson City, NC. The quartet began in 1964 when Martin Cook, a teacher at Swain County High School, invited several young men to his home for evenings of singing. The group began traveling to gospel singings. Decades later they continue to make albums with a traditional gospel sound.
This quick journey down memory lane, is thanks to the Southern Gospel Music Association. The organization works tirelessly to preserve the heritage and history of southern gospel music.

Texas Gospel Canada tonight added a new release from the Greenes to our music rotation. The song is actually a remastered classic from the group.
The Greenes were a highly sought-after, full-time touring group that regularly appeared at NQC and on Gaither Homecoming videos until Tony’s unexpected death in 2010.
“Heaven In The House” is from Hallelujah – the last project the group ever recorded and produced by the late Lari Goss. The song was personally chosen for radio by TaRanda’s husband, StowTown Records co-owner Landon Beene, because of its fun, upbeat nature and its classic “Greene’s sound.”
We hope you enjoy this glimpse from our genre’s heritage. We also hope you are encouraged by its timeless message about what happens when we choose to praise the Lord!

The artwork for The Steeles new CD has not yet been created, but they have already sent Texas Gospel Canada a cut for airplay. “A Song To Remind You” debuted this evening as The Steele’s first release of 2020.
God has great plans for each of us in 2020, though our faith may be tested through trials and hardships. Some people begin the year still walking through difficulties that began last year or even years ago. Others will encounter new challenges this year.
“A Song To Remind You” is just what the title says, an upbeat, positive tune that reminds us Jesus will keep us from walking through any adversity on our own.
Just as we need to start the year with the knowledge that He has already accepted us, we also need to begin the year shored up with an awareness that Christ will be actively present in our lives, no matter what happens.

StowTown Records today released the title track to Triumphant Quartet’s Yes project.
This uptempo song has a great message to start a new year. People are filled with hope and committed to various resolutions. Triumphant sings about Jesus saying “yes” to us when we first ran to Him for forgiveness.
“I am so grateful for that truth. Because the Lord said “yes” to me years ago when I ran to Him, I know I can confidently say “yes” to Him in whatever He asks of me in the year ahead,” said Ernie Haase of StowTown Records.
