Autumn Nelon signs songwriting deal with Daywind Publishing

Autumn Nelon, a member of the well known Nelon family, has signed an exclusive songwriting contract with Daywind Publishing. Nelon described the deal as a homecoming, saying the company has long felt like family to her. She said she is grateful to begin this new chapter of writing and creating music alongside people who believe in the songs she feels God has placed on her heart.

National Quartet Convention to see new construction ahead of this year’s event

The National Quartet Convention, set for September 27 through October 3 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, will take place amid ongoing construction at the LaConte Center, where the event has been held since 2014. NQC Executive Vice President Clarke Beasley said a new wing is being built that will not affect attendee parking. The convention’s north entrance will be relocated because of the construction near the circle drive, though organizers plan to mark the new entrance clearly. The south side of the venue, including the pedway from the mountain lot and the south entrance, will be unaffected, as will parking overall. Beasley said the completed wing will allow for more exhibits in the future and will create an exhibit experience similar to what NQC previously offered in Louisville. Jim and Melissa Brady continue European tour after Branson stop

Southern gospel duo Jim and Melissa Brady have been on the move, performing recently at the Southern Gospel Picnic in Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. From there, the couple traveled through Nashville, Tennessee, and Amsterdam before arriving in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as part of a European tour. Chosen Road releases new single Kitchens and Cathedrals

Chosen Road has released a new song titled “Kitchens and Cathedrals,” written by Lee Black and Gina Boe. Band member Jonathan Buckner said he and the rest of the group loved the song from the first time they heard it. Buckner recalled listening to the demo with his wife in their kitchen and being moved to tears partway through the first verse, saying it reminded him of his grandmother. He described her as a devoted Christian woman married to a former coal miner who became a traveling evangelist and preacher. Buckner said the couple raised ten children, with his grandmother often caring for the family alone while leaning heavily on her faith as her husband traveled.

Adam Crabb said an unplanned moment added special meaning to his new song, “I’m Gonna Talk About Jesus.” Crabb said he wanted his brothers to join him on the track, which he described as having a feel reminiscent of the Crabb Family’s sound. The group planned to record at Daywind Studios, and Crabb texted his brothers to arrange a time to meet. He said he did not realize his father had also been included in the group text until his father was the first to respond, saying he would be there. Crabb called it a complete accident, but said listeners consistently tell him the moment his father’s voice enters the song is when they feel it most.

The Mark Dubel family has a new song, “There’s Joy in Serving Jesus,” written by Janine Dubel. Janine said she was not initially convinced the group should record the song, even though her husband Mark and the couple’s children loved it right away. She said it took her longer to warm to the song, but she is now thankful God helped her write the words. Janine explained that the song draws a distinction between joy and happiness, saying happiness depends on circumstances while joy comes from the presence of Jesus Christ and from living in obedience to God’s will.
