Christian station still reaching listeners in Russia

A Christian radio station continues to transmit the Gospel to Russian listeners even though extreme restrictions placed on the media and devastation caused by the invasion of Ukraine have forced it to move its studio more than once.

New Life Radio began broadcasting in 1996 from Magadan, Russia on 102.5 FM. It moved to Odessa, Ukraine in 2019 after Russia began imposing federal laws on religion and the press. It now broadcasts as a satellite station as well as via the Internet. It has continued operation non-stop even though It has had to move at least two more times for safety after Russian bombs began falling on residential and business areas in Ukraine.

“Friends of New Life Radio…please pray for our radio staff. We will continue broadcasting as long as the Lord allows, and pray that our studio building will be spared,” said station founder Daniel Johnson in a comment made on the station’s Facebook page.

Texas Gospel Canada is thankful to the staff of New Life Radio for its continued operation under extreme conditions. Please pray that God’s will be done through their continued work.

Sunday Drive and Tim Davis honored at NRB

Nashville, TN (March 16, 2022) – StowTown Records artists Sunday Drive and Tim Lovelace were honored to lend their talents at two separate events during the recent National Religious Broadcasters Christian Media Convention. This year’s convention was held at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, TN.

Sunday Drive was invited to perform at a Gospel Music event hosted by The Truth Network where they debuted three songs from their upcoming album, Breaking Boundaries, which is set to release on April 8 at all retail and digital music outlets worldwide. Sunday Drive enjoyed making connections and celebrating those who work to share the Gospel through various media. “It was a privilege for Sunday Drive to perform for many of the leading Christian media members at NRB 2022,” shares Dusty Treece of Sunday Drive. “We had such a fun night and thank (Founder and President) Stu Epperson, Jr., (Chief Operating Officer) Michael Carbone, and the whole staff at Truth Network for this opportunity.” The Truth Network has been an ardent supporter of Southern Gospel music for many years.

Tim Lovelace was invited to lead worship for NRB’s Friday morning service. Longtime radio personality, Bob Lepine, was the guest speaker. Tim’s musical talents and Bob’s gift of encouragement made for a beautiful worship experience for NRB attendees. NRB is the world’s largest gathering of Christian communicators and ministry professionals, and Tim was honored to be a part of this year’s event. “Many thanks to NRB for inviting me to lead worship and share the platform with Bob Lepine. With nearly 30 years of hosting ‘Family Life Today,’ Bob’s radio outreach has touched millions of lives, and I am one in that number. NRB 2022 was a super successful event, and I was grateful to work with their amazing team.” Lovelace recently released Piano Praise, Volume 1, a collection of piano solos spanning popular hymns, praise & worship songs and gospel tunes. How often do you impart God’s word?

What does it mean to “impart” God’s word? You might think it means to give; as in, I give you something to own, and I no longer have any claim to it. But that’s not what impart means in most of its Biblical usage.  The word impart has implications and Paul’s use of the word demonstrates them. The concept of imparting God’s word is something to be considered when taken in context of Biblical usage.

When you say you will impart something, you imply that the something being imparted is of significance. It also means that it is not something one person relinquishes completely but shares with the receiver.  

Paul is recorded in Romans as saying he longed to impart a spiritual gift.  In 1 Thessalonians he said he and fellow missionaries imparted not only the Gospel, but their own souls.  Consider, they didn’t give way their souls, they shared their souls (themselves, who they are) and the Gospel with the Church in Thessalonica.  

There are secular Bible teachers who teach students about the Bible, the words in its pages, and how this book has affected world events.  But this is quite different than imparting; or sharing God’s Word with others. The former remains unmoved by the Word. For them it’s a cognitive exercise. But those who impart God’s word change and grow with others.

Why does God allow persecution?

Questioning persecution is nothing new. It’s something Christians have done since the earliest recorded times. But this isn’t something unique to God’s children, it’s a reaction seen in most humans.

Consider how the citizens of Ukraine acted after their country was invaded by Russia early in 2022.  Ukraine, a country that had its share of divisions suddenly became united. Adversity can unify an invaded nation. It can also unify us as a persecuted church.  Similarly, just as the world’s view of Ukraine changed as we watched the way its citizens responded to an invasion, the way we respond to anti-Christian jabs can also change the way others view followers of Jesus. 

Paul spoke about persecution in 1 Thessalonians. He records how onlookers in Thessalonica saw his response to persecution as evidence he wasn’t there for personal gain.  Persecution made his witness stronger.

I’m not implying that persecution is always God’s will, or that it’s wrong to ask God for deliverance from persecution. I am saying when we ask, we should follow Jesus’ example and follow with: Nevertheless, Thy will be done. There just may be reasons far beyond what we’ve considered. What are your thoughts?
