Mark Trammell Reflects on 50 Years in Ministry with New Project

JEFF TURNER

The Mark Trammell Quartet‘s latest project marks a milestone in southern gospel music. Celebrating Mark Trammell’s 50 years of singing Southern Gospel, the album revisits some of the most remarkable songs from his career. These songs familiar to long-time fans while also introducing new audiences to the tradition of southern gospel.

Mark Trammell shared his thoughts on the appeal of these classic songs. “There’s some great, great, great stuff back there in that day that we’re still gleaning from that today’s world thinks it’s brand new music. It’s not, it’s just 50, 60, 70 years old, that’s all,” he explained.

For Trammell, the value of revisiting these older songs is twofold. He appreciates the opportunity to perform music he knows deeply and believes in its ability to connect with people across generations. “The great part about that to me is I don’t have to learn new music as much. I can still sing songs that I know and I have lived long enough that we’re singing them and recording some of them again,” he said.

The project not only honours the legacy of Mark Trammell’s contributions to southern gospel music but is also a bridge between generations. With songs that have stood the test of time, the album celebrates both the past and the future of the genre.

Trammell says he is continually amazed by the response his ministry receives. “Here we are, a new generation that has so much to choose from and depict from when it comes to ‘entertainment’ or ‘ministry,’ and somehow I’m still in shock when people show up to hear us,” he added.

Mark Trammell Shares Encouraging Update on His Wife’s Recovery

JEFF TURNER

In an update to our previous story, Mark Trammell reports that his wife, LeResa, is continuing to improve after her recent battle with a clot and severe meningitis. Her journey has been filled with challenges, but the progress she’s making is nothing short of miraculous.

Mark shared the latest news, saying, “The Neurology team has signed off on the success of her clot and meningitis treatments. They have been successful at returning brain and body function. She is very much aware of her environment and what has happened. Her upper body movement and strength is improving a bit faster than legs and feet, which the Infectious Disease Dr said it probably would, in light of her having the type of severe meningitis that was present. All in all, we have witnessed an undeniable miracle!”

LeResa’s recovery continues as she moves into the next phase of her treatment. The family received the green light on Wednesday to transfer her to in-patient rehab, where she will undergo physical therapy to regain more strength and mobility.

Mark’s words reflect the gratitude and faith that have carried the Trammell family through this difficult time. With LeResa now entering this crucial stage of recovery.

Michael Booth Fills In with The Mark Trammell Quartet Amid Mark Trammell’s Family Emergency

JEFF TURNER

This weekend, Michael Booth stepped in to sing with The Mark Trammell Quartet as Mark Trammell remained at the bedside of his recovering wife. Mark Trammell expressed his gratitude on Facebook, saying, “I want to personally thank my longtime friend and Gospel Music legend Michael Booth for his willingness to stand in my place this week! It humbles me that he would take his time away from home to help us. Thank you, Michael, the boys on the bus have enjoyed your company!”

Trammell’s heartfelt message reflects the deep camaraderie within the Southern Gospel community, where friends step up to support each other in times of need.

Dr. Mark Trammell, Chiropractor?

DAVID INGRAM

It’s always intriguing to find out what Southern Gospel artists might have done if they didn’t pursue singing. Mark Trammell says if not for singing, he might have been a chiropractor.

“Well, it was either this or be a chiropractor. That has always stuck with me. When I was in school, in George sports, there was an old doctor that came in to help the football team there in North Little Rock, and he was a chiropractor,” said Mark.

“He got me interested in cranial structure, spine, how all of that works. The miracle of our muscle makeup and what it does and how Our brain tells all of our body how to do what to do. It was very intriguing for me at that age. I could have gone that way.”

But he says God gave him the desire to sing Gospel Music and opened the door.

Mark has been in the studio this week working on vocals for his project that will celebrate 50 years of ministry!

Mark Trammell Quartet Announces New Bass Singer

DAVID INGRAM

The Mark Trammel Quartet made a big announcement on the quartet’s Facebook page this morning:

“After 3 months, 31 resumes, and much prayer, Mark Trammell Quartet is thrilled to announce that our new bass singer will be Mr. Will Lane!

Mark relates: Will is no stranger to the Gospel Music world. He has most recently served as bass vocalist for the popular Lefevre Quartet. While this is a bittersweet time in the world of Gospel Music with the announcement of the retirement of the Lefevre Quartet, Will has elected to continue to spread the good news of Jesus through song and we are delighted to welcome him and his family to the MTQ family!

Will joins us the week of July 19 and we are excited about the future of this ministry with a man who is already loved and respected by so many! Please join Nick, Stephen, Trevor, Kevin, and myself in welcoming Will, Misti, and their family to the world of the Mark Trammell Quartet!

We would like to thank every man who showed interest in being a part of this ministry! The response has truly warmed our hearts! Special thanks to Mr. Keith Inman, and Mr. Jon Epley of Greater Vision, for their willingness to fill the bass position during our time of transition and seeking for the right man.

We covet your prayers as we begin the next phase of our journey together!

Blessings,
Mark Trammell
