LeFevre Quartet Delivers Fresh Sound with “Things We Cannot Change”

JEFF TURNER

The LeFevre Quartet is turning heads with their latest release “Things We Cannot Change,” which features an unconventional musical arrangement that sets it apart from typical Southern Gospel offerings.

“The song’s a little bit on the different side as far as the way it’s structured,” explains Jordan LeFevre, noting the unique composition. “The choruses are actually down a little bit, and then the verses come up – most normal songs are just the reverse of that.”

LeFevre believes this distinctive approach creates “a different listening experience” while maintaining a catchy appeal that resonates with audiences.

The release comes amid recent changes for the group, including the addition of new bass vocalist Daniel Ashmore, who joined the quartet last month.

The LeFevre Quartet: Trusting Christ in Uncertain Times

JEFF TURNER

The LeFevre Quartet‘s song, “Things We Cannot Change,” brings a powerful message of faith and reliance on Christ, a theme deeply rooted in biblical truth. Drawing inspiration from Colossians 2, the song echoes the apostle Paul’s warnings to the early church in Colossae, where false teachings, human philosophies, and rigid spiritual practices threatened to confuse believers. Paul’s message was clear: Jesus alone is sufficient, and believers are made complete through Him.

Mike LeFevre spoke of Paul’s teaching as he reflected on how Colossians 2:10 relates to the message of the song. “In Colossians 2:10, God reminds us that we have been made complete in Him. He is our fullness, and when we need strength and when we need somewhere to go, He is our answer,” Mike says. His words underscore the importance of trusting in Christ’s sufficiency, especially in times of uncertainty.

“Things We Cannot Change” beautifully expresses this truth, reminding listeners that while life is filled with uncertainties and challenges, faith in Christ provides the strength we need. As Mike shares, “That’s why I love this song ‘Things We Cannot Change,’ because our life is filled with things that are uncertain, and we need to live by faith, and this song reminds us that He is our strength.”

For believers today, much like in the time of the Colossians, the temptation to rely on worldly philosophies or additional practices for spiritual fulfillment can be strong. But this song encourages a return to the simplicity of the gospel, where Christ is all we need, no matter what we face. The LeFevre Quartet delivers a message that resonates with listeners, pointing them back to the sufficiency of Christ in a world filled with things beyond our control.

Celebrating a Legacy: Mike LeFevre Retires as Fire Chief

JEFF TURNER

Last week, the White County Emergency Operations Center was filled with friends, family, county officials, and fellow firefighters, all gathered to honor Mike LeFevre of The LeFevre Quartet. The occasion? Celebrating his retirement after an illustrious 25-year career as a firefighter, including seven years with the White County Fire Service, GA (USA) and his final two years as Fire Chief.

LeFevre’s last day on the job was Friday, August 23. The reception was a heartfelt tribute to his dedication and service. “I am proud of what we’ve achieved together and grateful to have ended my 25-year career right here in White County,” LeFevre said. “This community has been incredibly supportive, and it’s been an honor to serve.”

Reflecting on his time as Fire Chief, LeFevre shared, “When I’m not on the road with LaFevera Quartet, I am actually the fire chief of White County, Georgia. I actively manage the operations of a fire department that consist of about 30 full-time, about 30 part-time, and about 20 volunteers. It’s pretty time-consuming.”

LeFevre’s leadership extended beyond administrative duties. “We have mountains, a lot of mountainous area up there, so we do a lot of mountain rescues. So you may see me when I’m there. I don’t just stay in the office all the time because I like to run calls. And so I’ll repel. You know, I’ve repelled down for rescues. I’ll still put on my gear and go in and actually fight fire, run medical calls.”

Despite his passion for firefighting, LeFevre’s heart has always been with gospel music. “My passion is gospel music. And my goal is to retire from firefighting altogether and just be back singing full time,” he said. Now, with his retirement, he plans to spend more time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren, and focus on making Southern Gospel Music with The LeFevre Quartet.

As White County bids farewell to a dedicated leader, they also celebrate the beginning of a new chapter for Mike LeFevre. His legacy as a firefighter and his contributions to the community will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations, Chief LeFevre, on your well-deserved retirement!
