Jesus Above All Things

AMY TURNER

In his letter to the Colossians, Paul explains that Jesus is first in every way. He describes who Jesus is, what he has done, and what he continues to do. Paul ends with the clear truth that Christ stands over everything else in creation.

Because of Paul’s words, I believe it’s not possible to speak too much about Jesus. Any words we use will always fall short of his true worth. No subject is more important than him, and no one deserves more of our time, love, or attention.

Shouldn’t our response to God’s love be to worship him without end?

so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

The Promise of Resurrection Life

AMY TURNER

In his letter to the Colossians, Paul describes Jesus as the beginning and the first to rise from the dead in a way that gives Him first place in all things. The Bible shows that other people were brought back to life, such as Lazarus, but their return was temporary. They would face death again.

Jesus, however, was raised in a different way. His resurrection was not only a return to life but a transformation. He was given a body filled with glory and strength, a body that will last forever. Scripture calls Him the first fruit from among the dead. This means He is the beginning of something greater that is promised to all who belong to Him.

When Jesus rose, He showed what lies ahead for those who trust in Him. As He was raised with a body fit for eternity, so one day His people will share in that same kind of life. The resurrection of Christ is both a victory over death and a promise of what is to come.

But the fact is, Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.

Can Mankind Save Itself Without God?

TEXAS GOSPEL STAFF

The question, “Is mankind capable of saving itself, or does it need God’s intervention?” has echoed across the ages, and today it still rages as strongly as ever. Throughout history, people have attempted to build their own systems—whether in the form of philosophies, idols, or self-made towers of Babel. Many continue to believe they can navigate life without God’s help.

They may find success in business, politics or achieve social standing. Yet, beneath all these external accomplishments lies a deeper truth: there is a void within every person that only Jesus Christ can fill. The most astonishing fact is that the almighty God of the universe desires to dwell within your heart, regardless of who you are.

“…to whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” – Colossians 1:27 (NASB)
