Living Attentively Through the Holy Spirit

FLOYD ROGERS

When we speak to someone about a matter that deeply affects them, it’s only natural to expect their full attention. In the same way, whenever God communicates with us, it is always about something meaningful and personal. His words are never without purpose, and because of that, He deserves our complete focus.

Living a life guided by the Holy Spirit means staying open and attentive to God’s voice. It requires keeping our hearts and minds tuned in, ready to hear Him however He chooses to speak. This is not meant to be rare or unusual. For those who follow Christ, it should be the normal way of life — always alert, always listening.

My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

John 10:27

Jesus’ Promise of Eternal life

FLOYD ROGERS

When a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Saviour, something powerful takes place. In that moment, God gives them the gift of eternal life. The Bible clearly teaches this truth in John 10:28, where Jesus says, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” This promise is not temporary — it is everlasting.

Jesus also assured His followers that though He would leave this world, He would not leave them alone. He promised to return one day, but until then, He would send the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God’s presence living inside every believer. When someone is saved, the Holy Spirit comes to live within them, staying by their side and guiding them.

Doesn’t this tell us that the life of the risen and glorified Christ is present in every believer through the Holy Spirit? He will give us strength, comfort, and hope as we walk through life, giving us wisdom through God’s Word and keeping us connected to God’s promises.

The Bible’s Promises Behind God’s Commands

AMY TURNER

Many people see the Bible as a book filled with rules, but it is much more than that. Every command God gives comes with a promise attached. It’s not like ordinary instructions we hear growing up, such as “sit up straight” or “speak clearly.” God’s commands carry deeper meaning and lasting rewards.

Think of it like this — if someone guaranteed that choosing a certain number would win you a prize, you would pay attention. While this isn’t an encouragement to gamble, it shows how a promise can make a command meaningful.

In Acts 2:38, Peter spoke clearly to the crowd: “Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” The message is simple. If a person turns from sin and places their trust in Jesus, God promises to forgive and give the Holy Spirit. God’s commands always lead to something greater, offering life, peace, and hope.

in that I am commanding you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, so that you may live and become numerous, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to take possession of it.

Finding Peace Through Faith in Uncertain Times

FLOYD ROGERS

David’s life showed remarkable courage and faith. He believed, with certainty, that no matter what came his way, he could stand firm. Today, many people struggle with fear – afraid of what might happen next, anxious about the future, and weighed down by uncertainty. Yet, in the same difficult situations, others remain calm and strong within.

What makes the difference is their relationship with God. Those who stay close to Him, listen for His voice, and trust His guidance find peace even in trouble. They give thanks for God’s presence, for His strength, and for the way He provides in every need. Most of all, they trust that God will always be faithful to the promises found in His Word.

Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, I will also help you,
I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Isaiah 41:10

The Spirit’s Role in Understanding Scripture

FLOYD ROGERS

Revelation is a special kind of truth that comes directly from God. It is knowledge that people could not discover on their own. The Bible itself is this revelation — a message from God to humanity. However, there is also something called illumination. This happens when God, through His Holy Spirit, brings understanding to a person’s heart and mind as they read or hear His Word.

When a person hears or reads Scripture and suddenly feels a deep sense of clarity or joy, that is the Spirit of God at work. It’s as though a light turns on inside them, making the meaning of God’s message clear. This spiritual understanding is not something we create on our own; it is a gift from God.

For anyone to truly grasp and share God’s truth with others, it first needs to live within them. The Holy Spirit works through the truth that is already in a person’s heart. This is why it is important to fill our lives with God’s Word and be spiritually prepared.

our word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
