One of the most profound truths about God is that His essence—His very being—never changes. While we might not fully understand what God is, we can be certain that He remains the same throughout time. This unchanging essence is what makes God completely trustworthy and reliable.

Jesus’ teachings do not change. Hebrews 13 tells us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever. Do not be misled by varied and strange teachings…”

The concept of God’s unchanging essence might be difficult to grasp, but it’s a foundational truth that gives us a sense of security. In a world where everything else is subject to change, God stands as the one constant. His nature, His love, His justice—they all remain the same, giving us a firm foundation to rely on.

This unchanging nature of God also has practical implications for our lives. It means that God’s promises are always dependable. When He says He loves us, that love is constant and unchanging. When He promises to guide us, we can trust that He will do so faithfully. This assurance allows us to live with confidence, knowing that God is always with us and for us.

Understanding God’s unchanging essence deepens our faith and strengthens our relationship with Him. It reminds us that God is not like us—He is perfect, holy, and constant. This realization helps us to trust Him more fully and to rest in His unchanging nature, knowing that He is always working for our good.
