The Inspiring Journey Behind The Taylors’ Hit, “He Is Good To Me”

JEFF TURNER

The Taylors’ recent hit, “He Is Good To Me,” has an intriguing history, filled with musical creativity and patience. Originally written by Wayne Haun and Joseph Habedank, the song first appeared on The Perrys’ Life of Love album. Reflecting on its journey, Haun shared insights about the song’s unique revival and how it found new life with The Taylors.

In the early 2000s, the radio landscape often limited albums to just a few hit options, meaning songs like “He Is Good To Me” sometimes remained undiscovered gems. Haun recalls a valuable lesson he learned from Bill Gaither: “A great song is a great song, no matter who sings it or when it was recorded or stylistically how you approach it.” Inspired by this, Haun took pride in “finding those little jewels that might have been looked over or just laid dormant for a while and reimagining them.”

Reintroducing “He Is Good To Me” with The Taylors, Haun brought a fresh, soulful Southern twist to the track. He describes the new arrangement as “a little less acoustic, a little bit more like Southern…Southern soul,” giving the song a slightly slower and more emotive feel.

StowTown Records announces new release from The Taylors

SPECIAL STOWTOWN RECORDS

Nashville, TN – The rich musical heritage of The Taylors originally began in a small country church in North Carolina. That tradition has continued over the past two decades as Chris, Suzanne and Jonathan, collectively known as The Taylors, have consistently delivered musical excellence that has been embraced by audiences all across the country.

Their brand new Stowtown Records release, Peace, Love, Joy, follows up their 2022 Love Is The Voice recording and promises even more musical pleasure for longtime fans, as well as brand new listeners. The recording features the dynamic sibling group at their very best, lending their trademark, rich vocal harmonies to songs that contain the message of God’s goodness, grace, love and mercy.

Producer Wayne Haun said of the highly-anticipated project, “I’ve always loved the music we’ve created over the years, but there’s something about this album that makes me want to play it over and over. The collection of songs, the musicianship of some of Nashville and New York’s’ finest and, of course, the heartfelt performances of these three is simply put, perfection.”

Jonathan shared his enthusiasm about the new music, “This is my favorite album we’ve recorded so far! The songwriters we worked with really knocked it out of the park, and each song has a timely message for our listeners. Working with the best producer in the industry always gives us confidence that we’re going to have a quality project, but Wayne really outdid himself on this one. We also had an amazing team of musicians and engineers.” Suzanne added, “This album has been carefully crafted and prayed over.” Jonathan continued, “God has a way of sending us the perfect songs that we need to hear at exactly the right time in the seasons that we find ourselves in. We hope our listeners will be encouraged and uplifted, and we’re excited to see what God is going to do with this project!”

The debut single, “He Is Good To Me, is a driving, upbeat tune that shares of God’s faithfulness regardless of the difficult circumstances life may bring. It’s a message of hope that is already garnering nationwide radio airplay.

Other songs expected to be released to radio include “I Want To Hear It, a song of personal testimony and praise, penned by Rachel McCuthcheon and multi-award winning writer Rodney Griffin, and the title cut, which features Chris on lead vocals and was written by Kevin Winebarger and Wayne Haun.

The moving ballad, “God Cares, is a message of reassurance, which Jonathan delivers with bold conviction. Another message of God’s consistent care for us is delivered by Suzanne in “God Has Heard Your Cry, a powerful composition from the prolific writing team of Marcia Henry, Sue C. Smith and Rachel McCutcheon.

“We’re beyond thrilled with how this project turned out. It is our hope that as you listen, your soul will be filled with God’s peace, love and joy,” Chris expressed. The Taylors’ New Song “He Is Good to Me” Brings Hope and Joy

JEFF TURNER

The Taylors, a beloved brother-sister trio from North Carolina, are celebrating their 13th year of singing Southern Gospel with the release of their newest song, “He Is Good to Me.” The group, consisting of siblings who grew up in Fellowship Church where their father has been a Southern Baptist minister for nearly 33 years, continues to inspire with their heartfelt music.

Chris Taylor, who sings baritone vocals for The Taylors, shared his thoughts on the new song, emphasizing its uplifting nature. “This is a really, really encouraging song to me. It’s a little peppy, a little upbeat. Like the lyrics say, God is so good. He’s good to us,” Chris explained.

He went on to describe how the song resonates with listeners in various life situations. “Even in the mountaintops, even in the seasons of our life where we’re in the valley, when we go through something praiseworthy, when we go through something that we’re sorrowful over, such as the tragedies that have struck gospel music as of late, the song is such an encouraging reminder that God is on the throne, God is still sovereign, he’s good,” Chris said.

The Taylors’ music has always been a source of comfort and inspiration, and “He Is Good to Me” is no exception. Chris highlighted the song’s message of hope and faith, stating, “Ultimately he uses everything we face in life, everything we deal with. He can turn it for our good and for his glory.”

As The Taylors continue their journey in Southern Gospel music, their latest song stands as a testament to their unwavering faith and dedication to spreading positivity through their music. “He Is Good to Me” is sure to uplift and encourage all who listen, reminding them of the enduring goodness and sovereignty of God.

Summer Sizzles with StowTown Records New Release from The Taylors

SPECIAL StowTown Records

Nashville, TN (June 3, 2022) â€“ As summer begins, StowTown Records is keeping the music hot with a new album release from The TaylorsLove Is The Voice marks their first release in two years and features the North Carolina-based group delivering a musical collection that includes all four siblings for the first time in eight years.

With Love is the Voice, The Taylors demonstrate rich vocal harmonies, delivered with personal conviction. Chris Taylor shares, “We are beyond excited to present our newest musical release Love is the Voice. This album was born from a desire to encourage listeners to hear and believe the promises of God. From the gorgeous orchestrations to the delightful vocal arrangements, each song is hand-selected to highlight the abilities of the singer and display their desire to worship God. As a special surprise, and much to the delight of fans of the original group, Leslie (Perkins) has joined us, adding her beautiful soprano voice to this project. We invite you to listen to the message of this incredible album; we know you won’t be disappointed.”

This recording affords The Taylors yet another opportunity to work with multi-award winning producer, Wayne Haun, who always seems to bring songs that offer encouragement and inspiration to the album. Additional songwriters whose compositions are included in the nine-song recording include Scotty InmanLee BlackChris BinionDave Clark and Karen Peck Gooch, just to name a few. And while most of the songs are new, there is one more familiar song included on the album. “I’m Loving You More Every Day” was made popular as a worship chorus by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Haun explains, “Most people didn’t know that this song had verses. Jimmy and Becky Pearce brought in Aaron Wilburn to write a second verse; and the song, with both verses, has never been recorded until now. After lying dormant for 30-plus years, we get to hear this popular song in a whole new way.”

For a season, The Taylors, Jonathan, Chris, Leslie and Suzanne (Hise), have limited their travel to be with their young families. However, their music is connecting with concert goers throughout the country and across the globe via radio and streaming. This is just one reason why they place great emphasis on their song choices. These songs, coupled with what producer Wayne Haun calls “smooth, silky sounds,” make The Taylors a perennial fan favorite. “The Taylors choose heartfelt material and consistently offer the most comforting sounds; you know, the ones that you could sit and listen to all day. Nothing beats a family blend, and these four have such tight harmonies that you often can’t tell who is singing which part. They truly become one unit – one voice.”
