The Inspirations announce upcoming album, kicking off their 60th year of music

SPECIAL CROSSROADS MUSIC

Arden, North Carolina (January 23, 2024) — “As we begin a new year,” said The Inspirations’ Roland Kesterson, “our hearts are still fixed on the one goal that has been our motive since we started singing together—that motive being to continue the Legacy.”

With that goal in mind, the title for the new Horizon Records album by today’s edition of the long-lived quartet, The Legacy Continues, was a natural choice. And sure enough, the collection, now available for pre-save/add ahead of its March 15 release, offers convincing proof that the four young members (Kesterson, Luke Vaught, Wyatt Austin and Isaac Moore) have not only mastered The Inspirations’ ample catalog — Favorite New Artist honors (for Austin and Moore respectively) and Singing News Fans Award Album of the Year trophies in 2022 and 2023 alongside last year’s Favorite Artist award for the group already made that point — but have found the key to adding to that songbook with new songs that lend themselves to the classic Inspirations treatment.

From the opening nod to the past in “I’m Going That Way,” through an inspired retelling of one of the best-loved Biblical stories — “Come To The Well,” now making its way up the charts — to the closing celebration of the Resurrection, “Glory, Glory, Jesus Won,” The Legacy Continues is rich with echoes of The Inspirations’ sound from decades past, yet full of the excitement and vitality that come when young singers dive into tradition with fresh ears and open hearts.

“2024 marks a major milestone for the group,” notes Kesterson. “In April of this year, our group will celebrate 60 years of singing Gospel Music — and what a legacy that is! Sixty years ago, four young men gathered around Martin Cook’s piano and began to sing, with no idea of where God would take them. But they chose to honor Him, and in turn, God honored them.

“In much the same way,” he continues, “it was four years ago that we all gathered around my old piano at my house and began to sing, just to see what it would sound like. None of us had a clue what God was going to do, but we all four chose to be completely submissive to God and let His Holy Spirit lead us — and He did. It has been and will continue to be our prayer and sincere desire to honor God in every way on and off stage — and with millions of miles traveled, 72 albums recorded, countless souls won and lives changed worldwide, we are honored to be carrying on this legacy!”

The Inspirations’ Reunion LIVE will trace the quartet’s storied history

SPECIAL CROSSROADS MUSIC

Arden, North Carolina (August 8, 2023) — In an epic encounter that brought together The Inspirations’ past and present, current and former members of the storied Southern Gospel group gave a performance for the ages at the 2022 National Quartet Convention â€” and now listeners everywhere can enjoy this unique, uplifting set in the majestic The Inspirations’Reunion LIVE collection from Horizon Records.

The album is now available for pre-save/add/order ahead of its September 29 release.

The excitement of the audience can be felt from the set’s very first moment, as it erupts into applause at emcee Josh Franks’ introduction and the opening notes of the current lineup’s lively rendition of “Living On Higher Ground,” and the energy in the hall remains at top level throughout the program. In an exquisitely crafted sequence, the quartet — Isaac Moore, Roland Kesterson, Luke Vaught and Wyatt Austin â€” gives way one by one to the group’s first generation, each man taking his original position and performing one of his signature songs. Indeed, time seems almost to stand still as Archie Watkins, Troy Burns, Eddie Dietz, Mike Holcomb, Marlin Shubert, Matt Diebler and Melton Campbell made their way to the stage, offering, alongside today’s members, endless reminders of why The Inspirations have had such a profound impact on Christian music. The band, too — Vaught on piano, guitarist Roger Fortner, Dale Jones on pedal steel and guest Jeff Tolbert (Primitive Quartet) on bass — unerringly delivers the classic sound that has kept the quartet at the forefront of Southern Gospel over the decades.

From start to finish, The Inspirations’ Reunion LIVE testifies to the heartfelt joy of the Gospel’s good news, delivered by an aptly named brotherhood of men who have spent their lifetimes immersed in an unsurpassed musical ministry. Says founding member and legendary tenor singer Archie Watkins, “I am so excited that we got to do this! It was wonderful being on the stage at the National Quartet Convention with all the guys, and to see how the crowd just soaked it in was a blessing. I cannot thank Luke enough for how he put this event together. No one knows the history of our group like he does, and he really made the event come alive. I hope the fans love the recording as much as we did getting to record it!”

The Inspirations’ retrospective collection, Ageless Treasures, out now

SPECIAL CROSSROADS MUSIC

Arden, North Carolina (April 14, 2023) — Throughout the last few years, the latest generation of storied Southern Gospel quartet The Inspirations were a highlight of the National Quartet Convention, featured on the cover of Singing News magazine, and winners of the publication’s fan awards for favorite album and favorite young artist. As the group prepares to record new music, they are pausing to look back at decades of music with Ageless Treasures, a two-disc retrospective of fan-favorite songs out now from Horizon Records.

Since forming in 1964, The Inspirations‘ distinct sound has always been instantly recognizable and has changed little across 57 years of recordings — no matter who was singing. This sound carries through the 30 songs on Ageless Treasures, which features #1 songs “I’ll Not Turn My Back On Him Now,” “If You Only Knew” and “I Have Not Forgotten”; fan favorites like “We Need To Thank God” and “In The Twinkle Of An Eye”; and classics such as “They’re Holding up The Ladder” and “I’ll Have A New Life.”

Says lead vocalist Roland Kesterson, “For the last 22 years, The Inspirations have been blessed to have been on the Horizon Records label. Over the span of two decades, we have recorded some songs that have become fan favorites, songs that we still stage today and have requests for each night. Every song we sing is special to us, however, only a few stand the test of time and become ageless, in other words songs that never get old.”

“As you listen to this collection,” he continues, “it’s our prayer that each song not only blesses your heart but fills your mind with memories of the first time you heard them and how God has used these songs to minister to you as well as us. We hope you can once again enjoy our Ageless Treasures.” Listen to Ageless Treasures HERE.
