Karen Peck and New River’s song delivers a solid message

DAVID INGRAM

Six-time Grammy nominated, nine-time GMA Dove Award winning Karen Peck Gooch says she believes New River’s song “Be Ready” is a song of hope.

“I think with everything that’s happening in the world, we can see that there’s so much division and now more than ever, we need to get the message out of hope and our only hopes through Jesus,” she said.

This is the theme of the group’s new song, Be Ready. Speaking on that theme, Karen said, “If we will make sure that we know Jesus and make sure that everyone’s saved, we just wanna make sure that everyone knows that the word says that the only way we get to heaven is through the blood of Jesus.”

The lyrics are a strong point of the song, but that’s not to diminish the music. The group has evolved throughout the past 30 years together and continues to deliver a progressive Southern Gospel Music sound mixed with traditional styling that has made them a fan favorite.

Triumphant Quartet Unveils New Project: God Is Listening

JEFF TURNER

The renowned Southern Gospel group, Triumphant Quartet, has released their highly anticipated album, “God Is Listening.” This project promises to touch hearts and souls with its powerful messages and melodious harmonies. One of the standout tracks is the title song, “God Is Listening,” a piece that has a special story behind it, as shared by David Sutton, co-founder and tenor of the quartet.

David recalls the moment he first heard the title track.

“Triumph had been listening to songs. We listened to hundreds of songs when we were getting ready to record a new recording. And I received a text message from Eric Bennett, our bass singer. I was sitting on the bus. He was off the bus. And it just said, ‘Hey, I want you to listen to this song,'” said David.

Intrigued by Eric’s message, David eagerly opened the attached file. “The text said, ‘I think this is the song for you,'” David continued. With anticipation, he hit the play button and began to absorb the beautiful lyrics of “God Is Listening,” crafted by the talented trio Kenna West, Jason Cox, and John Moore.

David believes the timing of discovering this song was just what he needed. “The Lord knows when to send different songs at different seasons in our life,” he reflected. The heartfelt message of “God Is Listening” resonated deeply with the quartet, leading to its inclusion on their latest album.

Now, the final product is out, and David Sutton is featured prominently on this new release. Fans of Triumphant Quartet can expect the same level of excellence and spiritual upliftment that the group is known for.

Love in Bloom: Alex Jordan Proposes to Jayleigh

JEFF TURNER

This past weekend marked a heartwarming milestone for Alex Jordan of The Jordan Family, who proposed to his girlfriend, Jayleigh. Her answer? A joyful “Yes!”

Reflecting on their journey together, Alex shared, “All I can say is God has been so good to Jayleigh and me over this past year. Our relationship and our love for each other have flourished. There’s a significant backstory to our love and how it all came about.”

Their love story is truly special. For years, both Alex and Jayleigh had been praying to find their perfect match, though neither knew who they were praying for. “We were definitely meant for each other,” Alex said. “The backstory behind our love will be a whole other story.”

As they look to the future, the couple is planning an intimate family wedding in September. Alex expressed his excitement, saying, “We’re thrilled to see what God has in store for us.”

Congratulations to Alex and Jayleigh on their beautiful journey together.

Less travel for The Kramers this summer

David Ingram, Texas Gospel Canada

Maria Kramer Wolfe of The Kramers said they will have limited travel for the immediate future.

“When my brother was just two years old he was diagnosed with autism but back in 2016 we noticed some new health challenges showing up that affected his behaviors,” she said.

“We noticed some vocal ticks that were very loud just a lot of anxiety and it made it very hard for him to enjoy normal daily life. We did only what we knew to do, which was to continue moving forward in ministry while also getting him the help he needed. Recently, Wesson’s health challenges have become more severe and with mom and dad being his full -time caregivers, the decision was obvious that they knew that they needed to kind of take time and focus on really helping him get better,” said Maria.

The Kramers have contacted a clinic in their home area that’s willing to help Weston.

“They specialize in his special needs and his special situation. And so we do ask for your patience, understanding and prayers as a lot of our travels are put on halt for a little bit.”

Maria is due to have her third baby this summer, so they had already scheduled in some time away from the road for welcoming a new life, but have plans to return to a normal schedule in the future.

“During this time where we’re home a little bit more, we are excited to be serving more at our home church, Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Illinois,” she said.

We hope the future brings good things for the future!

Down East Boys joyously proclaim God’s redemption is ‘Something To Shout About’

SPECIAL HORIZON & SONLITE RECORDS

Arden, North Carolina (June 7, 2024) — Though the title track from their last EP, “There’s A Song For That,” has been riding high on the Southern Gospel charts for months, Sonlite Records’Down East Boys have been keeping fans well supplied with new material to sample on their own schedules — first with the release of early May’s majestically orchestrated “He Looked Beyond My Fault,” and now with the drop of the title track to a forthcoming full-length album, “Something To Shout About.”

Bold and assertive from its opening flourish of drums, “Something To Shout About” offers a driving, up-tempo beat that suits the joyous spirit of its message of God’s redemption. An ever-changing vocal arrangement in the verses keeps the spotlight moving between each of the quartet’s members, who take turns in offering the affirmations of Kenna Turner West and Jason Cox’s simple yet stirring lyrics:

Have you heard salvation’s story
Written for you and me
Jesus, God’s only son
Died for sin at Calvary
Was laid in a garden tomb but in three days
Death was defeated when He conquered the grave

Before joining together in the ringing chorus:

That’s something to shout about
That’s something, and you can’t help but tell the whole world how
He saved us from sin, washed us clean
Glory, hallelujah, He set us free
That’s something to shout about

“We love this new lyric,” say the Down East Boys. “If the Lord has ever touched your life then you have ‘Something to Shout About.’ This song will challenge you to tell the world what God has done for you!”Listen to “Something To Shout About” on Texas Gospel Canada!
