Psalm 127:2 reminds us that it is useless to exhaust ourselves, rising early and staying up late, worrying about life’s needs, because God gives rest to those He loves. Every night, while most of us sleep, countless people remain at work — police officers, nurses, power plant operators, and night shift workers. Their efforts keep the world running while we rest.
We place quiet trust in these people, knowing we cannot carry all their responsibilities ourselves. In the same way, the psalmist points us to trust in God, who never grows tired or takes a break. While we sleep, He continues to watch over us and work for our good.
When you lie down to rest, remember you are in His care. There is peace in knowing that even in the darkest hours, God remains active and faithful.
The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end,
Lamentations 3:22-23
For His compassions do not fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
