The Talleys’ “The Answer Is Christ” (Live) shares a timeless message

SPECIAL CROSSROADS RECORDS

Arden, North Carolina (May 26, 2023) โ€” As they continue on with their second series of releases that capture the artistry and energy of gospel favorites, The Talleys, in live performance, continue to look back to the early part of the century โ€” this time with a song that topped the Southern Gospel charts almost exactly 20 years ago, “The Answer Is Christ.”

Embracing the most fundamental message of the gospel, “The Answer Is Christ” finds the trio offering its reassurance through the alternating voices of Roger and Lauren Talley as they bear witness to the heartaches and doubts of life, before they’re joined, together with Debra Talley, in the song’s resolute, uplifting chorus:

He is the hope for the hopeless, the water, the giver of life
He is the strength for the weary, love for those cast aside
He gives rest to the restless, freedom from fear
When things seem impossible know that He’s near
For all of the problems of life, the answer is Christ

As the enthusiasm of the audience at the end of the performance makes clear, the majesty of the original studio recording is, thanks to additional years of faith and musical mastery, made even more profound by the spirit of the gathering.

As Roger Talley puts it, “Sometimes a song is written that is instantly timeless. ‘The Answer Is Christ’ definitely is timeless. The message has always been, and forever will be, ‘For all of the problems of life, the Answer is Christ!'”Listen to “The Answer Is Christ” (Live) HERE.

Lee McNeil Returnsto the Old Time Preachers Qt

SPECIAL AG PUBLICITY

Nashville, TN (May 16, 2023) Original lead singer, Lee McNeil, is returning to the Old Time Preachers Qt, but this time, he’ll be singing bass! Lee will be taking the place of former bass singer, Mike Holcomb. Lee is the pastor of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, NC, and will travel with the Old Time Preachers for most dates outside of Sundays; the group will travel as a trio on select Sunday dates.

Group owner and baritone, Les Butler, states, “We are excited and blessed to have Lee, back with us on select dates. His attitude, demeanor, and humility are a blessing to be around. He’s a singing and preaching machine!

The OTPQ has strategically reduced our dates since Covid. First, we were simply doing more than our “old” bodies would allow. Secondly, all of the men are preachers and our personal evangelism schedules started to fill up more and more. We support preaching first; singing second. So, we’re probably going to be doing about 30 dates a year and Lee will be on the majority of these dates. Initially, he took the lead singing spot with us because we had a pretty good bass singer at the time. You may have heard of him. His name is Mike Holcomb. In all seriousness, Lee was a bass singer when I hired him, he simply took the lead spot because that filled our need and he knocked it out of the park in that slot. We are excited for you to hear Lee sing his natural part as a bass vocalist.”

Be sure to listen for their newest radio single, “Everybody Will Be Happy Over There!” This is an old favorite featuring former Bass singer, Mike Holcomb.

The Chuck Wagon Gang’s upcoming album blends the old and the new

CROSSROADS RECORDS

Arden, North Carolina (May 9, 2023) โ€” Following the loving recreation of a vintage radio show that formed the core of 2021’s Radio Days, the Chuck Wagon Gang is returning with Come Go With Me, a glistening new collection for Mountain Home Music Company that finds the present-day version of the legendary gospel group serving up equal portions of old songs and new โ€” but all bearing the signature sound that has sustained the Gang for an unprecedented career that’s now lasted nearly 90 years.

The album is now available for pre-save/add ahead of its June 30 release.

Produced by Jeremy Stephens, leader of the popular bluegrass revivalist band, High Fidelity, and a former member of the Chuck Wagon Gang himself, Come Go With Me makes a compelling case for the timelessness of the group’s sound. Indeed, at a time when the listening audience’s appetite for the down-to-earth resonance of acoustic sounds, the sturdy simplicity of traditional styles and the abiding warmth of sincere gospel sentiments has never been larger, the elemental approach embodied in this down-to-earth yet well-crafted collection has never been more appealing.

With Stephens on board not only as producer, but as instrumentalist alongside studio wizard David Johnson and award-winning bassist Mike Bub, the Gang serve up a set that embraces continuity through a seamless blend of material that, whether old or new, sounds tailor-made for their old-school approach. Bookended by new songs โ€” the closing “Our Sins Are Washed Away” even comes straight from the pen of the group’s leader, Shaye Smith โ€” the Chuck Wagon Gang visit classics like “I Dreamed About Heaven Last Night” and Dottie Rambo’s thoughtful “For What Earthly Reason” and recent arrivals like “The Mighty Word of God” and the bluegrass-flavored “I Will Not Cry Today,” presenting each in an arrangement that faithfully reflects the essence of the sound first brought to the world three generations ago, yet infuses it with new energy.  Says Smith, “We have an interesting variety of selections on Come Go With Me. Maybe for the first time ever, there are as many brand new songs as recognizable favorites. But even these old favorites are new for the Gang. I believe there is something for everyone within this album and we are anticipating its release with great excitement!”

Heaven’s Mountain Band Announces Retirement

SPECIAL FAMILY MUSIC BLUEGRASS

Nashville, TN (April 26, 2023) The multi-award-winning bluegrass gospel band, Heaven’s Mountain Band, has announced their retirement after 37 years of ministry. This comes after the unexpected passing of beloved group matriarch, Deborah Johnson.

Roger Johnson states, “Rodney and I have prayed and we feel it is time to retire the group. I will continue writing music as long as the Lord gives me songs to write! We’d like to thank everyone for the years on the road, for buying our music, and praying for us. Please continue to lift us up in prayer. This retirement is effective immediately.”

Heaven’s Moutain Band has established themselves as one of the top groups in bluegrass gospel today! Career highlights include 10 consecutive Singing News #1 songs, multi-Diamond Award winner and Singing News Fan Award nominee. They were blessed to perform at some of the most prestigious venues, such as Dollywood, Hominy Valley and Shadow Valley, but their heart was ministering in local churches across America.

Les Butler, FMG label owner and HMB fan states, “I personally believe the impact that HMB had on fans of REAL traditional Bluegrass Gospel Music will resonate for generations to come. The comments we’ve gotten at the office, as well as in person over the years, from music buyers and church members have been overwhelming. HMB was not your normal bluegrass gospel band. They were much more and much deeper than that. The retirement of the Primitive QT and HMB is leaving a cavernous hole; one that I’m not sure will ever be filled.”

Butler continues, “On a personal level, I simply don’t have the words for what the Johnson family has meant to me, my family, and FMG. My, how we will miss being with Debbie, Roger, Rodney Johnson, and all of HMB! This is truly a sad day for me.”
