The Williamsons have just released their latest single, “Jesus Leading His Children Home.” Written by the renowned songwriter Gerald Crabb, the song embodies the heartfelt message of faith that has been a hallmark of The Williamsons’ ministry for decades.
Donnie Williamson, who leads the group alongside his wife Lisa, shared his personal connection to the song. “We just released a song to radio titled Jesus Leading His Children Home. It was written by a man who I consider to be one of the greatest songwriters in my lifetime, Brother Gerald Crabb. I have to admit the first thing to catch my attention when I heard the song was its style. But as I listened, I loved it even more because of its message.” This message resonates deeply with Donnie and the group’s mission, which has always been to share the Gospel through music, uplifting Christians, and reaching the lost.
The Williamsons’ journey in Southern Gospel music began in 1969, when Woody and Pinky Williamson, along with their children Donnie and Tennie, started performing in concerts and revival meetings across Oklahoma and neighboring states. After a brief rebranding as The Homesteaders Quartet, the group officially became The Williamsons in 2008, solidifying their place in the Southern Gospel community. Today, the group consists of Donnie, Lisa, their daughters Sadie and Olivia, as well as Darin Hebert and Bo Chesser, Lisa’s brother.
Over the years, The Williamsons have not only garnered numerous awards and hit songs but have also made a significant impact through their evangelistic efforts. Their mission statement, which emphasizes spreading the Gospel through music, is more than just words—it is the driving force behind everything they do. Their dedication to this mission has led them to perform across the United States and even in countries like the Philippines, Nicaragua, and Kenya, where they have witnessed thousands of lives changed.
Reflecting on the song’s powerful message, Donnie added, “In this life, Christians follow Jesus, even though we don’t always know where he’s going to lead us in the short term, but we know our final destination is home, where we’ll spend eternity with him. Just remember, following Christ isn’t always easy, and he never said it would be, but we stay the course because we know Jesus is leading his children home.”
The release of “Jesus Leading His Children Home” continues the group’s legacy of producing music that not only entertains but also ministers to the hearts of listeners. With a discography that includes multiple #1 songs and top-charting hits, The Williamsons have consistently delivered music that resonates with audiences both in the U.S. and around the world. Their latest album, Give Them Jesus, has already produced several top-20 songs, cementing their status as one of Southern Gospel’s premier groups.
As they continue to tour and release new music, The Williamsons remain committed to their calling. Their passion for spreading the Gospel through song shines through in every performance, and “Jesus Leading His Children Home” is yet another testament to their unwavering faith and dedication to their ministry.
